Ruim twintig jaar lang diende Boris Vos bij het Korps Mariniers. Hij had er een geweldige tijd met uitzendingen die hem van Bosnië via Irak en Afghanistan naar de Golf van Aden voerden. Tijdens die laatste missie ontdekte Boris hoe belangrijk wildbescherming in Afrika is. Het was een levens veranderende ervaring die hem twee jaar later definitief naar Afrika bracht.
