Today on Hempresent Vivian McPeak is joined by David Bass, Director of Veterans Outreach for Texas NORML. David Bass is a retired U.S. Army Veteran after twenty-one years of service. Serving in Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom David has served strong, though he is now a sixty percent disabled veteran.When David returned from serving one year in Iraq with the 1st Cavalry Division, he was diagnosed with PTSD. After retiring, the psychiatrist at the Veterans Administration hospital he went to for treatment prescribed psychotropic drugs with terrible side effects. David hated these drugs and their "zombie-like" side effects, leading him to flush them down the toilet in discouragement. He the turned to medical marijuana as an effective alternative to psychotropic drugs. Marijuana alleviates the symptoms of PTSD and has no negative side effects.David Bass understands that medical cannabis is extremely beneficial for veterans who are suffering from PTSD. He now fights side by side with Texas NORML for Texas to legalize medical marijuana for the sake of its thousands of brave veterans.
