THE NATIONAL Security apparatus of the United States has grown so large and unwieldy that a two-year Washington Post investigation concluded this summer that "that no one knows how much money it costs, how many people it employs, how many programs exist within it or exactly how many agencies do the same work."This is especially disturbing when you consider that up to 70% of America's intelligence budget is paid to private contractors.  What happens when the raw data our government uses to determine foreign, military, and economic policy is filtered through contractors whose primary responsibility is returning a profit to its investors — not all of whom are American.In this interview from the archives, intelligence expert Dr. R.J.
