DING, DONG, Osama's dead! But is that something we should celebrate?As Judge Andrew Napolitano commented on Fox News this week, the assassination of Osama Bin Laden violates four international treaties, three federal statutes, and the Constitution of the United States. The fact that Osama's death is popular with Americans means that it's likely to be used as precedent for future targeted killings against people deemed a threat by this or some future president.Given that the Executive Branch of the U.S. government now claims the right to assassinate American citizens without due process, we should all be disturbed this development.Further, it appears, if these articles at Newsflavor.com are indeed from an anonymous Democrat inside the White House and accurate as reported (read here and then here), that the decision to kill Osama was made without the knowledge of and, ultimately, over the objections of Barack Obama.In other words, the assassination of Osama Bin Laden was the result of a military-intelligence coup inside the White House.Finally, as Christians, where do we draw the line at righteous retribution? When the Lord said, "Vengeance is Mine; I will repay," how exactly do we put that into practice?
