In which Aramis, bruised and hurried, arrives at Fouquet’s residence bearing grave tidings that prompt urgent counsel between old allies about the swift and inscrutable movements of D’Artagnan. Meanwhile, Porthos lies deep in a slumber of legendary stubbornness, filling the chamber with his thunderous snores as exhaustion overtakes the vigilant Aramis.
