Video Flip-through and Review: Cthulhu Dark Arts Tarot and The Crystal Power Tarot

from Tarot Magick: A Daily Guidance Podcast · host Victoria | Moonlight and Mercury Tarot

Here is my awkward, bumbling, rambling attempt at a video episode. I alternate between correct and incorrect pronunciations of Marseilles (it should be mar-sei, not mar-sai), at one point I say minors when I should say majors, stumble over my words, and probably make other mistakes. But hey, at least I show you some pretty cool cards! I should note that these decks are not new; they're just new to my collection, so I wanted to introduce them before reading with them for the podcast. I was trying to remember the name of a tarot deck that is the reason why the Lovecraft cards are so large. Here's the description from Amazon, which provides that information and more about how the cards were created: "The illustrations of the Cthulhu Dark Arts Tarot were made by Førtifem. First entirely drawn by hand, each illustration was scanned and then colored using a computer. To ensure that the finished product honors the quality of the illustrations, as well as the greatness of the Cthulhu Mythos, they are printed on high quality paper. The format (3.35" x 6.50") chosen for this Cthulhu Mythos-inspired tarot is much larger than the usual divinatory tarot decks, including the Tarot of Marseille. This format is close to one of the oldest tarot decks, the "Visconti-Sforza" created by the artist Bonifacio Bembo between 1428 and 1447." Turns out I was going to say the right thing and just second guessed myself. I guess I was a little nervous. I'm not used to not being able to edit! The Crystal Power Tarot description is not as interesting, but since I had one I felt I should include the other. So here it is: "Featuring more than thirty stunning stones throughout the deck, every tarot card depicts a lavish artist-commissioned tarot image. The book provides interpretations for all the cards, plus the properties of their crystals and five spreads to try – from a simple card of the day to a seven-card chakra spread for healing. Each card also includes an empowerment affirmation, which provides a way for you to declare your intention and connect with the card’s crystal, thus taking action to influence your future and make your dreams a reality." Timestamps: The Marseille Deck (00:01:16) Explanation of the Marseille deck's differences from the Rider-Waite-Smith and Thoth tarot decks and its historical significance Tarot Reading Styles (00:02:45) Discussion of the three main styles of tarot reading: Marseille, Rider-Waite-Smith, and Thoth, and their influence on modern tarot decks. Reading with Marseille Decks (00:04:23) Marseille decks, lacking scenes, rely on symbolism, color, numerology, and patterns, allowing for intuitive reading. Cthulhu Dark Arts Tarot (00:08:36) Cthulhu Dark Arts Tarot deck: flip-through of the deck with commentary on its design, guidebook, and the cards' association with Lovecraft's mythos Crystal-Powered Tarot (00:14:17) The Crystal Power Tarot: its association with crystals, affirmations, and the artwork of the deck Card-by-Card Showcase (00:16:57) A flip-through of each card in The Crystal Power Tarot Booklet Explanation (00:20:41) A look at the booklet accompanying The Crystal Power Tarot, with The Magician card's description and crystal meanings as an example Closing Thoughts (00:23:28)
