Vigil held for 18-year-old killed in Lansdowne shooting
from KYW Newsradio Audio On-Demand
A vigil was held over the weekend for the high school football player shot and killed in Lansdowne, Delaware County, last week. Richard DeShield, 18, was behind the wheel near Blackburn and Wycombe avenues when police say two men fired shots, then ran off into an apartment building. They were later detained by police. DeShield was entering his senior year at Penn Wood High School. Family and friends held red and white balloons representing the school's colors. His sister said he wanted to join the Army after graduating. The suspects have not been identified. Lansdowne Police Chief Ken Rutherford called the shooting a “terrible tragedy.” He said those responsible will be held accountable. (Photo credit: NBC10)
