Village Votes for Independence Over Asylum Plans | Belfast News

A tiny Oxfordshire village is staging a symbolic independence vote to protest the UK government’s plan to house 1,000 asylum seekers at a nearby military base. With 96% of voters already backing the referendum, residents fear their safety, freedoms, and way of life are under threat. Parish officials warn the government’s rushed, rule-bypassing approach ignores their concerns — despite Prime Minister promises to listen. Women have penned an urgent letter to MPs calling it a “crisis,” while longtime residents describe how daily routines — from walking dogs to litter-picking — could vanish, leaving them feeling trapped in their own community. This isn’t just about borders — it’s about being heard. Listen in comfort:Get a discount on a Soli Pillow: http://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
