Die Weltuntergangsrhetorik dieser Tage - die ist so gar nicht die Sache von Vince Ebert, der naturwissenschaftliche Expertise mit kabarettistischem Sinn für Pointen verbindet. Die Energiedebatte, findet Ebert, werde oft recht einseitig geführt. Dass sich unsere Erde erwärmt - das sei klar - weniger klar seien aber die Konsequenzen, die zu ziehen sind. Ebert fragt etwa, ob wir uns nicht noch stärker auf die Anpassung an den Klimawandel konzentrieren sollten, statt (möglicherweise vergeblich) versuchen zu wollen, ihn zu verhindern. Müssen wir möglicherweise auch nochmal unsere Haltung zum Atomstrom überdenken? Ebert meint: Es müsse in Zukunft weniger um Reduzierung und Verzicht gehen als um Erfindungsreichtum und Kreativität. Auszug aus dem Buch: "Vor 150 Jahren war man sich in der Fachwelt einig, das größte Umweltproblem in Großstädten werde der Pferdemist sein. Halten Sie mich für verrückt, aber Pferdemist ist derzeit nicht unser größtes Problem. Möglicherweise werden unsere Urenkel ähnlich belustigt reagieren, wenn sie erfahren, dass wir uns Anfang des 21. Jahrhunderts Sorgen über unsere Erdölvorräte gemacht haben. Der Mensch ist innovativ und erfindungsreich.
