Vineland planning board approves second phase of data center construction
from KYW Newsradio Audio On-Demand
The planning board in Vineland, Cumberland County, has voted to approve the second phase of a data center that's already under construction. Phase 2 will add another 600,000 square feet, which would total 2.6 million square feet -- the size of about 43 football fields. Neighbors have raised concerns about electricity and water usage and noise. They say they're already hearing a humming noise and feeling vibrations coming from the center. They packed a meeting Monday night asking the board to vote no on Phase 2. The company behind the data center, Data One, says the site is operating in compliance with local noise ordinance limits. The planning board says Data One has been responsive to resident complaints, and they will continue to watch over the project. (Photo credit: NBC10)
