Hey, I wanted to I wanted to before we jump in just say that we get to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day tomorrow And as we were in worship, I was I was I was singing the song Here we go. Let me I found I pulled up the words It says we no longer kneel as sinners and slaves we stand as sons and daughters No price was too great with your own blood you have paid We stand as children of promise and I was thinking about Martin Luther King Jr. I was thinking about Jesus marching with him And I just felt like God is gonna actually raise up black men and women young men and women in our nation as new Revolutionaries that following the footsteps of Martin Luther King Jr.
And I saw them singing we no longer kneel as slaves But we stand as sons of sons and daughters and that we're children of promise And I just want to can we all stand I want to pray that God would encounter the black men and women of Minneapolis and St Paul in our city and in this community in that God would actually if you have if you have a brother or sister that's African American in The room just lay a hand on them because I'm believing that God is actually raising up new revolutionaries We talk about Billy Graham, but I'm believing that there'd be more reverence like Martin Luther King Jr. In our nation that would rise up and actually bring justice and a revolution in power So Lord we declare that there's a new movement of black young men and young women that would be marked as sons and daughters Children of promise Lord we declare that we as a church community will stand and remove the ceilings of Centuries that have been over them for the sake of the advancement of your name being made famous Lord We declare justice movement and that you're marking revolutionaries on the eve of Martin Luther King Jr. Day Lord we declare tonight mark them with dreams mark them with visions for justice in the name of Jesus and everybody said amen Amen amen. Thank you.
Thank you. I know there's a lot of intercession sometimes we go into but I just like Man, it's good Okay vision Sunday here we go you guys I'm gonna give a couple announcements before we dive in to the rest of the night But kind of how vision Sunday works is we call this a living room moment for our community If you haven't been around for very long or if you haven't heard our story We started in a living room and so we come back together for vision a couple of times a year because we're a growing church And so that means there's a lot of new and changing things all of the time And so this is our way of making sure that you know what's going on What's coming up in the calendar or what new things were starting because there's always new things starting and there's just so much happening even behind the scenes So this is our way to bring you into the loop as a family And so I'm gonna start with a few announcements And I'm gonna give you a few updates about some of our different departments and some exciting things that are happening there And then we're gonna close with hearing the word for the year every year we pray into God What are you saying for this next year? And so at the beginning and January of every year we release what we feel like God is saying over our community And it's so much more than just for this community We have seen some of the most special things come out of these words where we release the word and we think it means one thing And then as we watch it throughout the year by December We're like wow that looks so differently than what I thought it was gonna look like But I see the wisdom of God all over it And it's just been a really cool thing that we've had as a community And so we're excited to share that with you guys tonight because it just unifies us throughout the year and gives us kind of this common thing To come back to and what I love about it is that we get to pursue it in our individual lives and in our homes And in our city as well. It's not just for this particular body And so we'll get to that as well But I'm gonna start with a couple of announcements just because it was easier for us to do them instead tonight First of all communities start this week.
So this this is our big launch for our spring communities We have tons of communities and they're all amazing So if you haven't looked at them, you can see them on our website Otherwise, there's communities booklets out in the foyer grab them and find your crew It is the heartbeat of Grove. This is so core to who we are is family and community We started as a small community and it is so important that I believe every believer and I really do mean that every believer Should be a part of a community of other believers are pushing each other towards Jesus So if you don't have it find it, it's really important And so go check them out join multiple if you're looking for friends go to multiple find lots of people There's always time. Okay boomer and gen X. This is one of our favorite groups at Grove We have a special group for you guys that meets once a month and the next meetup is for dinner at the village pub in St Anthony next Sunday at 6 p.m.
Please I have never been there. Have you been there? It sounds it sounds classy. Okay, I bet it's because anyone been to village pub Okay, three people good good thumbs up, okay cheeseburgers, right?
That there's good burgers. Yeah. Yeah, milkshakes. All right, all right, okay village But pub if you are in the gen X or boomer community We want to invite you guys to go this is a way to find other people that call Grove home that are from your same demographic Because we know it can be hard to find each other And so this is our way of helping you to meet each other and that group has been thriving so please go check that out next week next up We have our DNA intensive Which is amazing.
This will be our second time running it. It's a 10-week course of all of the practicals So I want to learn how to study my Bible spend time with God. I want to learn how to lead a Bible study I want to learn how to pray for the sick. I want to learn how to hear the voice of God I want to learn how to just be a better leader or how to have a healthy heart and a healthy home This is for you.
I know that every one of us in this room is craving the practicals We all want to not just hear the stuff We want to learn how to do it and so if that's you and you have capacity we want to encourage you to go through this It would be our desire that every single one of you would go through it It is that valuable and so it's on Tuesday nights You can learn everything that you need to learn about it on our website But registration and applications close next Sunday. And then you're gonna drive here in the snow and you're gonna arrive and like there's no church And I could have known if I've filled out the state connect it for him. So I'm just gonna say it I want I want to know if you're gonna sell all of your emails to make money from home email help people do that Yeah, we're not we're doing that for sure for sure doing that we're doing no much money Do you think we could get monthly I know with like 700 email? I think it's a creative It's probably at least 25 30 bucks Everyone starts getting phone calls right How many of you are so many calls lists? Do you get a lot of spam wait a second? It's not all of us Do you get spam calls like every day?
Okay? Okay? Okay? If you're not raising your hand, I'm very curious how you didn't get on their list Good for you.
Yeah, those are all the people that haven't filled out state connected Right, you're the smart ones that haven't given up your info for like car that you can win at the mall They think that it's like the government's gonna be watching them through the state connected form. They haven't signed up That's why that's a can of worms. We can't I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding.

I'm so sorry You know So we are listening back to the archives of vision Sundays Today and Katie and I were shocked when we started listening to the August vision Sunday in 2018 And that's where we introduced growth is moving and here we are January 2020 and we're still not moving But we are going we're going to move in faith in 2020 Someone say amen So let it be all right I wanted to give just a building search update that we don't have any buildings But that we need your help and and just asking you to re sign up again for as you're driving throughout the cities To even go to this this URL and refresh yourself on what we're looking for as a church community And then if you see something that has 400 parking spots and has great ceiling height and meets all of the specifications Then let us know okay, so But we really have a desire to buy and to purchase a building But if that just isn't working we are we're willing to lease and we think that maybe that's even the best thing for us as a community And so we're just leaning on the Lord but also being very intentional with trying to find a building And it's really one of the primary parts of my role right now and our building committee is we got to find a space So I do want to acknowledge also and Katie help me with this We just want to acknowledge that we are we have outgrown the space and we've been outgrowing the space for quite a long time, okay? Yeah, so we kind of stumbled into this with the last service Yeah, so we'll just talk about it really quick because we haven't talked about the space very often and given just like We understand the limitations of the space that we're in and we're sorry and thank you for the just enduring some of the limitations of this space We know it's crammed in here We know that some of you climbed it like a mountain and the snow to get in how many of you climbed the snow snow hill wow That's not safe. I don't think and you're doing it. I thank you the bathrooms Yeah, I'm sorry.
I'm sorry. I'm sorry for the ladies. I don't know I've heard horror stories from the friends bathroom I am just sorry We don't have the capacity for how many people need to use the restroom So you could use the restroom before you come to church if you want or maybe we'll bring porta potties in I don't know That would be so weird if they're or like porta potties line in our hallways. Nope not doing it but We know that there are things where it kind of feels like things are breaking around us And we want you to know that we take it seriously our staff is thinking about it and working on solutions every single week And we are working so hard to find a space We know how much we need one so and I just also want to bring you into the loop If you've just started to come to grow recently the whole storyline is that we're in this space because there's a church called Elmwood It has opened up their building to us since 2015 And we are so thankful for Elmwood.
They have been over the top generous It's just it's blown our minds year after year after year. They've been so generous towards us as a community and so I just Man, I can't say enough about Elmwood and what God is gonna do through them and continues to do through them every single year And that we get to be in this space. I believe that we're gonna look back and go man those were the days However cool the next space is gonna be I it's not going to be the mob carpet that we get to worship on and that we get to have history With the Lord in this room so we'll probably do a mob carpet in the new building just because yes coming back coming back I kind of match the carpet tonight. So that was intentional so good I also want to give an update on on where we're at financially with preparing for the move And it's just something really cool to celebrate coming into 2019 We had over the span of 2015 through 2019 saved over 200,000 To invest into us moving for the future and we were just I mean we weren't planted by another church We weren't we didn't have a network that was saying hey, here's you know a couple hundred thousand dollars to get you started It was just the generosity of this community that positioned us in that way And over the last year with some financial leaders and then all of the giving of this community We were able listen this is wild.
Okay, just crazy. We were able to set aside this month. It's gonna be seven hundred thousand dollars On top of the 200,000 dollars So that we almost had we have nine hundred thousand dollars to prepare us for when the right building shows up To be able to pull the trigger is that not unreal? And I just want to I just want to honor this community of the generosity of this community Most communities where where there's a younger demographic we realize we're not going to be around the bush We know that we have a younger community and I just wanted to Make it clear and make it known that the millennial generation the gen Z generation They actually carry generosity And that they are not lagging behind because I will talk to other leaders and they're like oh man You're young church that's hard financially and it has been a different story for this community because we have some kingdom people They're saying I'm going to invest I believe with faith that God is doing something here that get to vest invest in And so I just want to honor our whole community for achieving this.
It's amazing. I'm so excited for 2020 We're gonna find that building Let's go Just kidding also can I add something else to the building thing? Okay I want to just acknowledge that We have this vision of the base that God has shared with our community and gave to us and Sometimes there's this tendency to feel like that knowledge that serious just spoke about your pocket What do you want? For how long no, I don't want a timer.
Okay 15 minutes. I couldn't move through that. I was like what is happening. Oh, yeah, okay For that the Lord gave us this base vision Of having a day and night house of prayer that we start in the Twin Cities that he's given us this vision to have Counselors an army of counselors from our community that would bless our city to have Kingdom business that just is thriving out of the church community that leaders would be gathering in the business field so that they can invest Into our city and into the nation.
I mean God is going to do so much But it's not revolving around a building because it's already happening now And I just want to draw our attention to we are building the base without a building and that's healthy for us It's healthy for us to acknowledge that this is not it's never been about a building and that's something that we all agree is a church community It's never about the four walls. It's always about the eglasy of the people of God And the kingdom of God is built in the people of God the people grow up to into the head him who is Christ Jesus And we are getting built up as a people The building is just kind of a thing that facilitates moments of encounter But it's a launch pad out and so we are going to invest into a launch pad called the building at some point But this is a people that God is building and this is called the base you are the base You are carrying visions right now. God is gonna birth visions inside of the people That's actually gonna be part of the base. So we listen and obey as the children of God amen Okay, and then that's so good.
So we'll see building in 2020 2021 2022 We'll be fine. It's gonna be good. Um, okay I'm gonna give you guys a few updates about different departments and what's happening Josh just mentioned an army of counselors soul care that is what I want to tell you guys about How many of you and just curious how many of you when I say soul care specifically as it relates to grow? How many of you know what I'm talking about?
Okay, that's really good. That's awesome Then I'm gonna breeze through this that ministry is so fruitful and it's going so well So many people are experiencing healing in the Lord during these sessions It is beautiful We have just doubled the amount of leaders that we've trained in now So now we have over 20 leaders who are trained to lead people through these guided prayer sessions Amazing if you haven't heard that much about it. It's because it's only open right now for owners So anyone who's serving at Grove is is able to sign up for a session And that's only because of the capacity of our space of only having so many rooms that we can open and have available And also how many leaders that we have because there has been even within our owners We are filling these sessions so easily the desire for that is so strong And so it's been really cool to just see that that ministry really blossom behind the scenes And we just want to keep it in front of you so that you guys know when it there's gonna be a day coming soon This is a baby step moment for us to be able to offer these to the rest of the community and eventually to our city That is a desire that we have and so what we are doing right now is we are actually able to double the amount of sessions that we're offering And so every Wednesday when when tab is happening in here down the hall over here Maybe you've come into tab and you've seen a soul care sign and you're like what is that? Is there what's going on over there?
All of the rooms all of the children's rooms down the hallway are filled with different sessions that are happening where individuals get one on On sessions with two people that lead them through a guided prayer session We now get to offer them at both five and seven thirty and that is a huge step forward and that means even sooner We're gonna be able to open them up And so we just want you guys to be aware of it if you think of it pray for our soul care team There is so much fruit in that ministry and we see even more just the need for it in our city And if you don't know what an owner is at Grove what that means is somebody that serves on a team where they're volunteering on a team To really serve whether it be on Sundays or any other responsibility We're gonna actually talk about a couple opportunities But that's what an owner is at Grove so in a lot of other churches They just call them volunteers But we call them owners because they're owning the vision and they're owning where we're going as a church community with the mission of empowering everyday believers So good the next department I want you guys to look at with me is our local impact department So we have an impact department which houses are both our local and our global outreach initiatives You guys have heard a ton about global because we are going all over the world this year We have a bunch of teams that are already full for our spring season For all of the trips that are going and they're starting to get trained right now before they start to leave And then we'll we'll launch a second round of global trip opportunities later this year Which is so exciting But you haven't heard that much about our local outreach initiatives and that is because they haven't started yet We are just starting to figure out what that's gonna look like So I need we need your help And what this looks like is if you what we are looking for within the community is people that are on staff and employed Or that serve and volunteer Nonprofit organizations in our city if you work out one or serve at one and also know of at least one other person That goes to grove that works there or serves there we want to know about you So that's very specific what we're trying to target is what local nonprofit organizations Do we have multiple people that are already engaged in how can we come behind you and bolster? And so we are trying to discern what our local partnerships are going to look like and we really believe that we're going to find them Right here in our people and so for example minnesota adult and team challenge if you work there or serve there Volunteer there we don't need to hear from you. You're already on our radar We know that there's a lot of you same with tree house There are a lot of people that work at tree house and serve at tree house And so if there's another nonprofit besides those two that there are people at grove that are investing in we want to hear about you So the best thing you could do is find that cruise who oversees all of our impact You can email info at grove you can find a different staff member and they'll connect you to nick But we want to hear from you like tonight would be awesome So just reach out to us We want to partner with you to see how we can partner in the city This local impact is going to be like a wild. We're so excited to just see how the lord develops it So this is a ground level Um, next is just like a funny simple announcement We are launching a security team and so you are going to start to see a couple of people in t-shirts that say security We tried to make the t-shirts not look like too crazy and intimidating But we just want you to know we don't want you to be surprised by that or go did something happen Like was there a problem was it's like there's no problem It's just smart to have security and we should have already had security So we will start having that over the next few weeks and just wanted to give you a heads up to not be thrown off by that Last announcement is about our creatives department.
We just want to highlight what god is doing with our creatives I feel like we have been talking about creatives for the last year I feel like the beginning of 2019 it was starting to just be like on our radar a lot We talked about it some didn't see a lot of traction throughout the year But in the last probably four months or so There is so much traction in our creatives department and we are so excited about it We know that there's a call on this community to just be trailblazers in Expressing the creative heart of god and we are just finally starting to see that creatives are gathering and our creative teams are starting to be like almost two full It's like a really really good So we wanted to say encourage you there are a couple areas that there still are a couple of spots open and want you to know about them As this team forms so you have it right behind me if you have experience in social media Graphic design or photography we would love to hear from you if you're looking for a way to be an owner and to invest and grow There are some openings available We'd love to hear from you so you can just grab a staff member Nicole paulcer is the one that oversees creatives and she is killing it She's amazing such a fun leader to serve under and so you can talk to Nicole grab another staff member They'll connect you to technical or always just go on the website and contact us through that is really easy as well So if you are in social media graphic designer photography, we'd love to hear from you With creatives there is a really fun announcement you guys have probably noticed how many of you attend to 6 p.m Pretty regularly like this is your main service. Whoa not as many as I was thinking maybe a lot of people sit around Um, you see cameras at the 6 p.m The 4 p.m It never sees cameras and we have an amazing video team that has been forming and they are killing the game Let's give it up for video They are recording services and it has been going so well We're still thankful we received a donation last year that that allowed us to get really quality video equipment And it has been such a gift and we are excited to announce that Grove is now on YouTube and So Nicole and her team have been working hard to get that set up and it is now live and so right now We are now recording sermons with video as well So now you can actually watch messages and not just listen to them and I know that that's helpful for me I love I would far rather go to YouTube than go to a podcast personally So if you're like me this will be awesome And uh, Nicole and her team have filled out the last year of messages where we didn't have video before those are now they're on audio as well And they're gonna continue to put Projects from sermon series in the past that are so good that we can't wait to have like sacred cows I mean there's so many that are so good. I won't try to listen But we're gonna start to put those out as projects where people will be able to access those on YouTube as well But right now you could go to youtube and you'll see a handful of ones that are already video And then the rest of them are audio but they'll be video each week moving forward So this is a huge thing for our community and we know that this is a baby step to being able to offer worship moments on youtube as well Which we really really look forward to so huge prop to Nicole to the creative team. There's so much good happening I'm just so excited there that it's more of we're gonna have the ability to Share some of the messages that have impacted our lives and you can do that so much It's so much easier to do that with you too and so that's what we're filled with a lot of excitement about for sure We are going to talk about vision vision, but what we want to do is look back.
I'm very curious because typically at the 6 p.m There's less people that have been here for very long So I'm curious how many of you was anyone in the room with us when we met in the house Handful over here. Okay. How many of you have been here for more than three years? More than two years one year How many of you have been here for less than six months Whoa Less than three months.
I'm so curious. Yes less than a month Awesome. Welcome. We're so glad that you're here.
What we want to do is look back at these last couple years and we're curious We don't have a gift card for you Like we did last week or like Josh stole from our family van last week So there's no prize, but shout it out if you know the answer who can remember what our word for the year was in 2019 So last year family at first, okay 2018 Positioning the year of positioning 2017 No, keep guessing Someone who I thought was gonna say it No, great guess Come on. I'll give you a hint Essentially a department at Grove is called this now Uh starts the nature Yes healthy homes 2017 healthy homes and 2,000 people impacted by that year. Yeah, wow I thought that was significant it felt significant to me. Yeah, like I was impacted by it Okay, 2016.
What was the word? Somewhat you guys like four of you said this times two Yes, the times two lifestyle that was our that first year These words are so significant to us like as we pray about them for the following year We know that this is not just a word for one year Each of those words have actually become a part of our DNA in our culture as a community It's just something each year that God is highlighting putting his finger on and saying let's grow and mature in this So that it's a part of you and so that we can highlight it zoom in on it And then have it be part of us moving forward and so we don't leave these words like we have not graduated from any of these words We are still growing in healthy homes. We are still growing and multiplying our lives We are still growing in family first and we are still positioning ourselves before God And so this word for this year is just as significant We believe even though we still don't even fully know everything that it means and that is what's fun about these words It's like who knows what this is going to mean by the end of the year And so it's just a fun way for us to unite around something as a community Are we ready? Can I get a drum roll please?
He made the 4 p.m. drum roll for so long. Should we just see how long they can go? Yeah, I like it.
The word for 2020 is all for one. All for one How many of you know the three musketeers? Do you know the the second phrase all for one and One for all the Lord didn't say that second phrase so we're just sticking with the first one All for one but as I as I researched that a little bit here on my phone Katie and I were praying about it and and we were like man What does that even mean? I pulled up this article that's about 1618 and there's Protestant believers that were facing difficulty and persecution And this is a quote from one of the leaders in this moment where they're facing Sudden death as a people group and they said this This is a leader speaking about their community He said we came to a unanimous agreement amongst ourselves That regardless of any loss of life or limb honor or property that we would stand firm with all for one and one for all Nor would we be subservient but rather we would loyally help and protect each other to the utmost against all difficulties We believe as a community that God is going to take that brotherhood sisterhood mindset And it's going to carry over family first that we would learn what true kingdom friendship is this year as a church community That it'd be all for one and and as we're Dialoguing around this felt like God gave us this picture of how many of you guys have ever been to a football game like a gopher game And usually it's in high school or college football What they'll do is you're entering into the fourth quarter And both teams and all the stands and it's just this weird thing that people do They always lift up their hands like this as they're going into the fourth quarter And it's this sign of like now is the time This is our moment, right?
And we got this picture of all of us as a community heading into the fields Remember the harvest series and we are all hanging into the fields and we had our hands like this holding one up above our heads as a people And it represented this the statement of it's all for you. Jesus our lives poured out in the fields It's for the one but then it also had this double meaning of it's for the one in the fields It's not it's not even about the masters meeting It's about the one that we're going after that's on his heart when we look at the one that's seated above the circle of the earth And then we look at his eyes and he's going oh my goodness I'm looking at this one and we get to partner with his heart in that this year and so We don't know I mean those are some things but we don't know what this is going to turn into what it's going to mean for our community But I believe and as katie was talking about this I was just reminded about last year We took time to say lord what is this for me? And that's something that I love about all these words as we seek the lord for clarity not just as a whole community But lord I want to make this personal because what happens is You take your fire your the flame of your heart that you've been stewarding every single week And then that for katie has always said this you take that flame and then you put it together with everybody else's Flame when we gather and it creates this big bonfire of worship and love living sacrifices burnt offerings In sense rising to god pleasing to him when we come together. It's like man lord what is happening in your senses His senses like he's like going wild.
He's just the god of like wow They really do love me even though they've never seen me right and I Just am filled with anticipation that god is going to speak to you And to me personally and he's gonna take this and he's gonna remind us of scriptures that really bring this to life He's gonna take this and it's gonna mean something to you that maybe it won't mean to anybody else in our community But he's given it to us as your leaders to say There's an invitation here for you to seek this out and you to bring yourself before the lord say lord What would you have for me with offer one? So we're gonna take a little bit of time Steven do you want to come and just play a little bit in the background And we're gonna take a couple minutes to just ask the lord lord for me. What does all for one mean? For me, what are you saying when when you spoke the word offer one?
I knew that I know that you were you were gonna have me in the room tonight And that you knew that I was gonna ask you this question So what are you speaking to me tonight about this all for one? Can we do that? We're gonna take a couple minutes I'm gonna pray and I want to encourage you even just write it down in your phone or your journal As you listen to the lord and ask him this question What does all for one mean for me this year in 2020? Father You are the one that is the father of this family And as sons and daughters we look to our left and to our right and we see brothers and sisters lord For some reason you gave us this word all for one and you're gonna unpack this mystery lord I thank you that you love giving us these little words because it's our joy to seek them out lord I thank you that there's treasures At your right hand forever more that we get just to look into the mysteries of your heart So tonight lord we ask you what does this mean for me all for one?
What what do you want me? In 2020 to be aware of There's another question even for us to ask is lord what's a promise that you're giving me for 2020 Let's just take those questions and in our own words be conversing with the Holy Spirit
