from Night Whispers · host Victor Robert Farrell

Six quid and six silver spoonsLuke 18:22-23 “So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, ‘You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.’ But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich.” NKJV It was Leonard Ravenhill who reminded us that when John Wesley died in 1791, he left behind only a handful of books, a Geneva preaching gown, six silver spoons, and a few pound notes—one for each of the poor men who would carry his coffin. And what else did he leave? Oh yes—the Methodist Church. Application: We are not living in stable times, and deep down, you know it. The years ahead will not reward those who have built their lives upon fragile systems, inflated markets, and borrowed security. The shaking has already begun. What many have trusted in—property, pensions, portfolios, and platforms—will prove far less certain than they imagined. And when the ground moves, it will not be your mortgage, your title deeds, or your accumulated things that will hold you steady—it will be Christ alone. So examine yourself honestly. Loosen your grip where it has tightened around the world. Simplify where you have entangled yourself unnecessarily. Refuse the lie that security is found in accumulation. Begin now to invest deliberately in what cannot be taken from you—your walk with God, your obedience, your generosity, your eternal perspective.Live as a pilgrim, not as a settler. Hold what you have with an open hand. Be ready, if called upon, to lose it without losing Him. For the day may soon come when the question is no longer theoretical: not “what do you own?” but “what can you let go of—and still stand?”Make sure, when that day comes, that you are standing on the Rock—and not on the board.Support the show🎵 The Ballad Dodecet™  - Twelve Stories.
