刘知远（895年—948年），原名刘暠，太原沙陀部人，是五代时期后汉的开国皇帝（后汉高祖）。他早年从军，骁勇善战，曾追随石敬瑭建立后晋，屡立战功，深得信任。后晋末年，契丹大举南侵，中原大乱。刘知远审时度势，在太原称帝，建立后汉，并趁契丹北撤之机南下，定都汴州，短暂统一了中原地区。然而，他在位仅一年便因病去世，终年54岁。
