1900年8月15日凌晨，天還沒亮，紫禁城的西華門突然打開，一眾太監的簇擁下，權利至高無上的慈禧太后坐在轎子裏急匆匆地趕路。此時的慈禧拋棄了華麗的朝服，穿上一件普通人家的衣服，內心惶恐，他們出了西華門後便消失在了深夜裏。這就是著名的「慈禧西逃」事件。
