VOLatile Reaction: Auburn
from VOLatile Podcast · host VOLatile Podcast
Tennessee beat Auburn 24–14, and the Volatile crew was in Neyland for it — eleven rows up, near the 50, behind the Auburn bench. The seats were as good as they get. The section around them was not. A lot of the episode is the “Danny White effect” in real time: expensive chairbacks that never filled, people gone by the third quarter, and the student section and south end zone carrying the noise. Then the game itself. Faizon starts, the offense stalls, and an interception inside the Vols’ own 20 ends his day. George McIntyre comes in, completes a throw on the move, and the offense suddenly moves. The hosts argue over how much of that was the quarterback, how much was the line, and what it says about Josh Heupel’s history of picking the starter. Also in the mix: DeShawn Bishop getting his flowers (and a pointed postgame comment about Alex Golesh), a defense that again looked like the best unit on the field, Jackson Ross pinning Auburn deep, and the usual “Joe texting into the void” segment. They close on Arkansas — the soft spot left on the schedule, and the week Heupel has to decide who is actually the quarterback.
