Stage 5 of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift delivered the first major mountain battle of the race, with relentless climbing from the start. Puck Pieterse dominated the Queen of the Mountains competition, while the general classification fight exploded on the final climbs. Demi Vollering's decisive attack on the Mont Brouilly split the favourites before she, Marlen Reusser and Katarzyna Niewiadoma-Phinney battled all the way to Belleville-en-Beaujolais. Vollering sprinted to the stage win, while Reusser held on to the Yellow Jersey and tightened the fight for the overall lead.
