Seeing the reach and choosing a response not dictated by habit is the work.Some relationships deepen: the parent who only ever knew the role suddenly meets the man or the woman, and inside all that shared history, real contact has a depth unlike anything else. Those encounters are rare, and worth the years of returning. Some stay where they are, and some get harder.
