Vote Harvesting: What Happened in North Carolina and How to Stop It

Allegations of rampant election fraud has the results of a North Carolina congressional race up in the air.In the Tar Heel State's 9th district, Republican Mark Harris defeated Democrat Dan McCready by 905 votes, but the Harris campaign and a group he contracted with are accused of vote harvesting.The Republicans are accused of swiping absentee ballots in predominantly minority neighborhoods and sending them back in. When the same person served as the witness for many of those votes, officials became suspicious.Democrats are also under the legal microscope because groups affiliated with Democrats gathered some absentee ballots and turned them in. Those involved say their actions are much different because the actual people voted but North Carolina forbids anyone other than the voter or an immediate family member from turning in those ballots.So how can officials possible determine who really won this election? Where do they even start?We discuss it all with Hans von Spakovsky, manager of the Election Law Reform Initiative at the Heritage Foundation. He also served on President Trump's Advisory Commission on Election Integrity.Von Spakovsky says North Carolina is not an isolated incident.
