Last month, the African National Congress (ANC)’s National Chairperson and the speaker of South Africa’s National Legislature Baleka Mbete says that ANC MPS will toe the “party line”. Mbete says this weeks before the debate of the vote of no confidence in the countries President Jacob Zuma which will take place on the 8th of August. Baleka highlights this as ANC Mp Dr Makhosi Khoza called for secret ballot while recently axed finance minister Pravin Gordhan have publicly called for the removal of Zuma. However, recently members of the ANC’s NEC have threatened that MP's who vote against the president will be disciplined.
