Wacha Earns All-Star Spot Despite Rough Start | Kansas City Royals News

Michael Wacha is headed to the MLB All-Star Game for the second time — and first as a Royal — despite a rough outing against the Mets where he gave up six runs in under five innings. The Royals fell 7-3, but Wacha’s first half earned him the nod thanks to leading the AL in innings pitched. He admits he needs to better handle damaging innings like the Mets’ fifth. Meanwhile, first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino is expected back soon after a hand injury — he was hitting well before going down — and his return is seen as a major offensive boost for the Royals.
