The political comeback of Senegalese former president, Abdoulaye Wade has been described by some as a ploy to get his son ascend to the presidency. The 91-year-old politician returned to Senegal this week, after spending years abroad, following a failed attempt at securing a third term in office. He will be heading up the list of candidates for his opposition party, Senegalese Democratic party in the upcoming legislative elections. He is also heading up other opposition parties that are working together to obtain a majority in parliament. Wade last returned to senegal three years ago as his son Karim wade was to face trial for charges of corruption. Channel Africa spoke to Professor Mamadou Diouf about the significance of Wade's political comeback, and whether he still has an active role to play in Senegalese politics?
