Then the whole passage turns on one word that changes everything, gift. Eternal life is not a reward for law-keeping or a bonus for religious effort. It’s the gift of God through Jesus Christ our Lord, grounded entirely in what Christ has done. From there, we press into the uncomfortable but freeing implications. What does it mean to be “made free from sin” and to bear “fruit unto holiness”? Why does grace produce gratitude, new desires, and an increasing hatred for what once felt normal? We talk sanctification in plain terms, not as a way to get saved or stay saved, but as the result of being saved by grace through faith.
