How’s your preparation coming along? Putting up decorations, shopping gifts for family and friends, getting ready for parties, etc. For many, this is a stressful time, with all the demands on our time, resources, and energies. But when we were kids, it was the anticipation for Jesus’ birthday/ that kept us waiting in excitement. What are you waiting for now? Are you still excited? Indeed, “the world waits for a miracle, and longs for a little bit of hope. Children pray for peace on earth, calling out from a sea of hurt.” We can be overcome by the many challenges and problems that beset us. Wars, death, illness, disasters, corruption, poverty, depression, the list goes on. It is to a wounded and darkened world like ours that Jesus came on earth two thousand years ago. He continues to come to us every day, and he is speaking to you now. As we begin the Advent season, our Lord is speaking to you in the deepest depths of your soul. He is gently saying, “Wake up.” “Listen.” “Watch.” Are you paying attention?
