In a hostile circus tent, dirty with age, The people laugh despite their chains, At ever more hurtful, ridiculous spite, Laughing and howling day and night. If he keeps you playing, Demanding distractions, Like a drunkard swaying, Unaware of the nooses tightening contractions. Even the Devils freely admit Christ is king, Even the damned shrug and say the same thing... It is not that they do not know, They know the truth and refuse to slow, The evil that happens outside the tent, That polite society thinks doesn't exist... Oh, it exists!
