Walk in My Shoes...HomelessnessHomelessness and it's effect on people with disabilities.If more politicians had a lived experience of homelessness, institutionalisation or disability would we see a change of government support?Ariane, James, Jane and Pauline discuss homelessness and how it happens.AMIDA are currently putting in a submission to the Parliamentary Inquiry into Homelessness which closes on March 16th 2020.In the lead up to this we revisit A Walk in My Shoes - a discussion held in 2017 in response to the  Victorian governments announcements at the time on tackling homelessness and the impact on people with disabilities. At the time of the discussion - the Federal Government had rejected all calls for a Royal Commission into institutional abuse of people with disability. As we know an election took place and the government bowed to pressure from advocates everywhere . The Royal Commission is now under way and will run for three years until 2022.
