We’re back on the albums again! Part TWENTY ONE, 100-91. - ***We briefly mention album 91, but will return to it and cover it in full on the next installment. - This week features Fleetwood Mac, Sade, Death, and seven other artists to continue this massive undertaking. Hmm, who else could there be? ;) - When do we EVER have time for Poetry Time on Albums eps anymore? Here’s the written version for you: - Today’s Poetry Time ____________________________________________________ I Wake Close to Morning Why do people keep asking to see God's identity papers when the darkness opening into morning is more than enough? Certainly any god might turn away in disgust. Think of Sheba approaching the kingdom of Solomon. Do you think she had to ask, "Is this the place?" -by Mary Oliver ____________________________________________________ To honor the top 100 albums (and my favorite poet) the poems for the rest of this series will all come from Mary Oliver :) - ONLY 90 ALBUMS TO GO!!! Sigh. (It occurred to me last week that I’m really going to miss this project once we’re through.) Onward and upward we continue. - Oh it’s a major endeavor, alright. I’m going to try to listen to at least 10 albums a week for the rest of the year! Yeah, I’m not joking. Media, art, and entertainment publication Paste Magazine came out with a list of the 300 best albums and we’re going to go through them all! Well, I’m going to. And then we’re going to talk about it! Great tracks, themes, history, info, related artists, cultural context, personal experiences- they’re all going to play a part in these reviews. Totally stoked because I love music. (And a little intimidated! Because this is a lot to process) - If we keep up with an episode per week featuring 10 albums each, we’ll just about finish by the end of 2024. - Hold close the ppl you care about.
