Walk-On Wonder Will Mikonowicz

A local Wisconsin prodigy is turning heads with blazing speed and dual-threat athleticism, making a surprising leap from Division-II to a preferred walk-on offer at the Badgers. Will Mikonowicz, a Reedsburg safety who just shattered the school’s 100-meter record at 10.59 seconds, also racked up over 3,000 all-purpose yards and 48 touchdowns as a running back while making 80 tackles and snagging 5 interceptions as a DB. At 6’1”, 200 lbs with elite wingspan and strength, he’s a rare blend of size and speed — and now, after a visit to Madison, he’s officially joining the 2026 class. His track speed hints at special teams potential, and his story proves walk-ons aren’t just overlooked — they’re becoming hidden gems.
