Walking in a Town Japanese Couldn't Enter 50年前まで日本人が入れなかった街 | Yokohama
Today, I’m taking a walk through Honmoku in Yokohama. Until about 50 years ago, there were parts of this town that Japanese people actually couldn't enter. While walking, I talk a bit about how this former US military housing area introduced jazz and R&B to Yokohama, and how the town slowly returned to what it is today. I just stroll through Honmoku Sancho Park, look at the seasonal Koinobori (carp streamers), and pass by an old American diner.I hope you enjoy the scenery and the history, and that it helps with your daily Japanese listening.0:00 - A bit of Yokohama's history0:53 - Walking through Honmoku Park1:14 - The US military era2:04 - Jazz and R&B in Yokohama3:25 - Returning the town to Japan3:53 - Exploring the hills and stairs5:28 - Walking up American Hill6:24 - Koinobori (carp streamers)6:46 - Stopping for a coffee break7:11 - Streets without power lines👇Learn N5 Immersion Programhttps://www.okkeijapanese.com/n5-program/👉Get the transcripts with furigana on Okkei Japanese websitehttps://www.okkeijapanese.com/🔘Hi.
