Walla Walla Press Closes Its Doors | Spokane News
from Spokane News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
The Seattle Times Company is shutting down its Walla Walla printing press, eliminating ten jobs with severance packages, as soaring costs and declining commercial print demand make the operation unsustainable. Despite the closure, the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin will continue publishing on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays — now printed in Lewiston starting September 17. The press, upgraded just a year ago, couldn’t offset lost revenue from a major client’s reduced orders. Other regional papers, including the Yakima Herald-Republic, will also shift printing to Seattle as the company restructures its commercial operations.
