Want to Make Them Listen? Make Them Laugh. Women, Comedy, and Power with Lynn Harris — Episode 20

from Her Next Level with Dana Hunter Fradella | Leadership, Human Design, Feminism & Wealth · host Dana Hunter Fradella

I want to hear from you! Text or voicememo me what you love about HNL, guest recommendations and topics you'd love to discuss. You don’t need to wait until you have more confidence or power. But you might need to do this. I've spent years building a coaching practice around helping women stop waiting to feel ready. So when I sat down with one of my very first guests on this podcast, Lynn Harris — founder of Gold Comedy, co-creator of Breakup Girl, and a woman who has used comedy to change laws from Capitol Hill to NASCAR — I wasn't expecting her to hand me one of the clearest teachings I've heard on this show. But she did. We talked about what happens when women build things instead of waiting to feel confident enough to build them. We talked about why laughter is one of the most underestimated forms of power a woman can wield — and why that power terrifies the systems built to keep us quiet. And we talked about what it actually looks like to stop taking yourself so seriously without taking your life, your work, or your voice any less seriously at all. This conversation moves fast, gets loud, and we do not apologize. Here's some of what came through for me: You don't need to feel ready. You need to build the thing. Confidence isn't a prerequisite — it's a byproduct of doing the work, falling on your face, and doing it again anyway. Being taken seriously and being funny are not opposites. Women get told to pick one. You were never supposed to have to choose. When you make people laugh, you make people listen. And listening is power — the kind that's historically been withheld from women, on purpose. You don't have to wait for permission, and you don't have to wait for later. Later is a story you tell yourself so you don't have to start today. Change doesn't always look like a protest sign. Sometimes it looks like a story, a joke, a character — something that quietly rewires what people believe is normal. You are allowed to go for it before you feel ready. You are allowed to be funny and be taken seriously. You are allowed to build your next level starting now. ___ Did this episode call your name? If you're a founder, leader, entrepreneur, creative, or a woman who makes a difference — and you are ready to break through your upper limits and glass ceilings to create more impact and income — I'm personally inviting you to explore what a complimentary 1:1 conversation with me could look like. With high-touch support, you'll get clear on what your next level actually is, identify what's in the way, and create aligned, powerful next steps tailored specifically to you and your next level of personal and professional success. You'll leave with clarity, courage, and momentum to move from thinking about your next level to living in the middle of it. NEW: Human Design is now woven into every 1:1 conversation — you'll receive a mini-reading as part of our time together. DM me directly on Instagram if you'd like a 1:1 conversation. Send a screenshot of your rating + review of the show, and I'll send you my Unshakeable Confidence private workshop as a gift. You are here on purpose. Your assignment is your next level. And you have full permission and limitless possibility to create an extraordinary life that makes a difference for yourself, for others, and for the world. Hey gorgeous. I love you.
