War With The Flesh - Battlefield Of Our Mouth.

from FBC Clarion Sermons · host FBC Clarion

3 points from James - War is about Control  1. Control of your mouth is a BIG deal. v. 5 - So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! Matthew 12-34 - You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 2. What we say sets a course for life. v. 3 - If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well. 3. A disciple of Jesus should expect victory in the battle of the mouth. v. 13 - Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. Do it - control your mouth. 6 enemies to conquer for control of the mouth. 1. Filth - Cursing and Crudeness  Ephesians 5:4 - Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. 2. Lying - Leviticus 19:11 - You shall not steal; you shall not deal falsely; you shall not lie to one another. John 8:44 - You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Proverbs 12:22 - Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight. Revelation 21:8 - But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death. 3. Gossip - Definition - Talk about the personal or private affairs of another. Romans 1:28-31 - And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Hearsay (so and so told me) and Truth (telling the truth in the form of prayer requests - give me more info) 4. Malice - Matthew 5:22 - But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire. Example - Hate speech. Old phrase - sticks and stones - words do hurt one another. 5. Dissension</str
