A Major Pain for Lt. Malcolm Reed... In Season Three of Enterprise, the crew dynamic of the NX-01 was “enhanced" in a way that we have never seen before on Star Trek. Due to the dire circumstances that developed at the beginning of the Xindi Arc, we were introduced to an entirely new branch of service from the United Earth Government: the MACOs; a specialized military attachment with orders to safeguard the crew and protect the mission. On Warp Five Episode 11, Christopher Jones talked about the concept of the MACOs and how they were folded into the overall Star Trek mythos.
