Warriors Fall Short in Nail-Biter
from Wellington News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
The Warriors narrowly lost a heart-stopping 20-18 thriller to the Penrith Panthers, falling just short of another big win after three tries were disallowed and key moments slipped away. Coach Andrew Webster praised their effort but stressed the need for full 80-minute consistency, especially after Penrith exploited a risky last-tackle decision. Still, standout performances from Jacob Laban, Te Maire Martin, Wayde Egan, and Taine Tuaupiki kept spirits high. With a bye week ahead and tough fixtures looming — including the Origin period and tight turnaround times — the Warriors remain second on the ladder but must rediscover their winning streak and manage fatigue to stay atop the league.
