This story tells of two mistreated orphans, Jack and Nina, who work for a cruel farmer named Simon. When Simon decides to sell their beloved Cow, Jack encounters a Field Fairy who owes the Cow a favor. Instead of transforming the Cow, the Fairy suggests changing Simon into a kind man. Before this can happen, Simon accidentally burns himself; despite his past cruelty, Jack and Nina nurse him back to health.
