Washington politics is depressing. What’s the Forward Party doing?

Last week, a small band of Republicans led by Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz voted to oust Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, bringing legislative business in Washington to a screeching halt in the middle of a government funding battle and pushing important issues that should have our attention to the sidelines. Johanna Maska talks to two people who might have a path forward—Andrew Yang, an entrepreneur and former 2020 presidential candidate who founded the Forward Party to tackle political and partisan polarization, and former Lt. Governor of Massachusetts Kerry Healy, who joined the organization's board of directors. They discuss what the Forward party is trying to accomplish, how to address the partisan divide in Congress and give us their political predictions, including whether the U.S. will see a recession before the next election.
