WATCH! Taos & Georgia O'Keeffe Country in New Mexico

I’ve got two new New Mexico episodes of Photowalks all cued up for you. We leave Santa Fe for a drive north to tiny Abiquiu, pop. 200, where the beloved artist Georgia O’Keeffe had her home, in both town and the nearby Ghost Ranch. What’s a visit there like? Let me show you. From Abiquiu, we continue further north, to perhaps my favorite spot in the Land of Enchantment, Taos, home to the oldest living continuous community in the United States, the Taos Pueblo, a thriving artist community and some of the best desert landscape you’ll see anywhere. This is a return visit to Taos—the last time I did an episode there two years ago the Pueblo was closed, and I hadn’t yet met Ruthann McCarthy, Sol Lothe or Alberto Real from the amazing Camino Real Imports shop. Ruthann is the friendly woman in the cowgirl hat who runs the Legacy Cafe in the town Plaza—her family has been in the Plaza for over 100 years and no one knows Taos like she does. Sol is the character who takes people up, up and away in his Rio Grande Balloons. He was nice enough to invite me up there for a ride in his beautiful balloon, and do a great interview from the skies. Alberto’s family runs this electric curio shop, with seemingly over 1 million items—everything from sun art, hanging ristras and pottery, to lots and lots of skulls. These episodes were filmed primarily on the iPhone 16 Pro and 15 Pro Max models, with some key balloon shots on the Insta360 X4 and driving shots on the GoPro Hero 12. And ICYMI: Santa FeNorthern New Mexico, as you can see in the videos, is extra magical in late October, with beautiful fall colors, so mark your calendars for next year.
