Watson's Return: Redemption or Reckoning | Cleveland Browns News

Deshaun Watson made his long-awaited return to the Browns’ starting lineup after 693 days away, but the game was a brutal reminder of how far he has to go — Cleveland fell behind 24-0 early, Watson was sacked five times, and the team lost 34-10 to Jacksonville. Despite the disaster, his longtime coach Quincy Avery stood by him, arguing that critics ignore the full picture: Watson still showed flashes of brilliance, including leading the team in rushing with 38 yards, and threw for 205 yards, one TD, and one INT. The real story? He completed just one deep pass in the first half, and the Jaguars intercepted him on the very first offensive play. Coach Todd Monken said the entire team — including Watson — will be re-evaluated as they prepare for Tampa Bay, with film review at the core of their next steps.
