Wave Goodbye to Blissful Ignorance

from FROM THE Nth POWER: A Path to Rational Spirituality · host Nicole Devlin

Ignorance used to be a way to avoid sometimes unpleasant things, or even just to stay on your own side of the street in an effort to be comfortable or compatible. Now, it's almost seen as somewhat critically unhealthy because you are not choosing to see things the way your friends do, or a "predominant" part of society does. The individual way of thinking is not as attractive at the same time one's ability to make up one's own mind is necessary for confidence. Power is in your accountabilty and self-mastery, which includes thinking for yourself. If you want to be ignorant of some things, while cognizant of others, more open dialogue should be the rule when communicating. Let's remember divisions grow into chasms when we focus on differences and can't be rendered smarter by another person's experience.
