WCAT Radio The Open Door (November 17, 2017)

from The Open Door · host WCAT Radio

Right to Life. We believe that respect for the dignity of human life is the most basic tenet of a civilized society. This dignity is unconditional; it is never reduced by factors such as usefulness or "wantedness." From the moment of conception until natural death, every human being is entitled to protections under the law, to just treatment, and to equitable consideration. We, therefore, support:A constitutional amendment that affirms that personhood begins at conception and declares that there is no right to abortion under the U.S. Constitution, thus reversing Roe v. Wade and its progeny.Federal and state laws that protect the rights of both mothers and their unborn children.Use of government funds to meet the special needs of women, mothers and children, without ever contributing to organizations that provide, promote or facilitate abortions.Policies that help prevent the tragedy of suicide, including universal access to affordable mental health care.Creation of a strong and inclusive social safety net to provide for the needs of the most vulnerable members of society. And we oppose:Compounding the tragedy of abortion through criminal penalties against the women who obtain them.Intentional destruction of human embryos, in any context.Human cloning.Euthanasia and assisted suicide.Capital punishment.
