WCDRR Preview

A large African delegation will be participating at this year's World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction hosted in the city of Sendai, Japan. The third WCDRR under the theme "building resilience of nations and communities against disasters" comes at a time when a number of African nations are just recovering from the effects of the floods that started in December last year.As of January 2015, 135-thousand people had been affected in Malawi, Mozambique, Madagascar and Zimbabwe. Also worth noting is the persistent drought and consequent hunger in the horn of Africa and the Sahel region. The conference seeks to adopt a new framework for tackling these issues and other disasters affecting the globe.
