from 60 Seconds of Hope with Horace McMillon · host Horace McMillon
Send us Fan Mail“What I love about the ministry of Jesus is that he identified the poor as blessed and the rich as needy...and then he went and ministered to them both.” - Rachel Held Evans In most societies, in most of the world, over most of human history the poor have been dismissed, diminished, demonized, and marginalized. At same time the rich have been celebrated, glorified and often even deified. Jesus taught us to see the humanity of the poor. He encouraged us to look for the image of God reflected in their lives. He taught us to acknowledge and celebrate their blessings and gifts. At the same time, Jesus often criticized the way the rich and powerful often treated the poor. He occasionally flipped the literal tables of injustice. He pointed out the ways the rich and powerful were still lacking. Nevertheless, Jesus ministered to the humanity of all, the rich, the poor, and those in between. He recognized that everyone has gift and everyone has a need. Our calling is to recognize and honor both in everyone we meet. I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope.
