We Are Anointed for our Neighbor

from Revival Life Church · host Revival Life Church

This teaching from 1 Peter 4:8–11 emphasizes how God’s anointing flows through believers as they actively steward His grace by loving sacrificially, welcoming freely, and serving faithfully. Peter’s exhortation, “Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins” (1 Pet. 4:8), reveals that fervent love not only strengthens community but also frees individuals from offenses intended to halt their spiritual growth. The anointing of God increases when believers intentionally steward His grace for the sake of others. A central focus of the teaching is understanding and receiving God’s anointing. This anointing is not accidental; it grows through dedicated prayer, worship, consecration, and serving others sacrificially. Believers experience greater measures of God’s power when they actively share what He has already provided. “If you want more of God’s power, use what He has already given you for others,” underscores that the anointing is intended for ministry rather than self-glorification. Every believer has received spiritual gifts intended for service, marking them as stewards of God’s multifaceted grace (1 Pet. 4:10). True stewardship recognizes that these gifts and the accompanying anointing are entrusted by God for empowering ministry, not personal achievement. Peter clearly states the ultimate purpose of stewarding these gifts: “So that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ” (1 Pet. 4:11). The sermon encourages stepping beyond comfort zones to faithfully steward God’s grace, releasing His anointing into their lives and communities. As believers move confidently into their God-given assignments, His presence and power become increasingly evident, transforming lives and glorifying Christ. As you reflect on this message this week, consider the following: You experience more of God when your life is lived for His glory. Reflect on specific areas of your life. Where might you shift your focus from personal comfort or achievement toward actively glorifying God? If you want more of God’s power, use what He has already given you for others. Consider the gifts or promises God has placed within you. How can you intentionally steward these gifts by serving others this week? When you begin to walk in your assignment, God will give you all the power you need to complete it. Identify one area of your life where you feel God calling you into deeper commitment or greater responsibility. What practical step can you take to step out in faith and obedience?
