Watching our daughters compete in dance this past weekend got us thinking about the life lessons they’re learning. They practice endlessly for a routine they only get one shot at, and they’re often really tough on themselves. A lot of people have walked away from dance because of the coaching culture—the yelling, the idea that tough coaching is the only way to make kids listen.
