We Are Delivered

from Revival Life Church · host Revival Life Church

True freedom requires confronting both personal and systemic forms of spiritual oppression. What often appears to be emotional or circumstantial pain may actually be the result of deception. “The enemy’s power does not begin with oppression. It begins with deception.” The most dangerous lie is that the devil does not exist. Jesus acknowledged Satan as the ruler of this world and came to destroy his works (1 John 3:8). Oppression can manifest in the body, such as affliction and addiction that defy natural explanation or treatment, as seen in Luke 13:11–13 where a woman’s physical sickness was caused by a spirit. It can also manifest in the mind through strongholds, which are mental fortresses built by lies, including shame, fear, or identity confusion. Deliverance includes discerning the enemy’s lies and receiving truth that sets captives free. “Jesus does not just treat symptoms. He targets the spiritual root.” This includes not only personal deliverance but also confronting corrupted systems. In Mark 5, Jesus casts out a demon named “Legion,” symbolizing Roman oppression, and then sends the demons into pigs, destroying both the spirit and the system it upheld. The goal of deliverance is not merely inner peace but full restoration. Jesus restores body, mind, dignity, and freedom from both sin and societal compromise. Deliverance is not about spectacle. It is about aligning with the authority of Christ to walk in real freedom, “for He rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son” (Colossians 1:13). As you reflect on this message this week, consider the following: Are there areas in your life where you have accepted lies or distortions that may be keeping you from walking in freedom? What does it mean for you personally that Jesus came not just to comfort but to destroy the works of the devil? In what ways might you be cooperating with spiritual oppression unknowingly, and how can you invite the Holy Spirit to renew your mind and restore clarity?
