We Are Generous — 2.24.19 Sermon

This message opens a series on generosity by arguing that we were designed to give, not to keep. Made in the image of a God who gave his Son, generosity is framed not as an aspiration but as a command rooted in our created nature. The core argument is almost physiological: breath, water, the body itself, even decomposition, all give. Selfishness is the deviation, named plainly as sin, while Scripture from Genesis 1 to 2 Corinthians 9 ties our likeness to God to open-handed living. The teaching closes with five biblical commitments, drawn from 1 Timothy 6, Proverbs, Matthew 6 and Malachi 3: trust God over possessions, seek his wisdom, follow his plan, use wealth for kingdom relationships, and test his promise to provide. The invitation is not a guilt-driven check but prayer over a posture of obedience.
