We Are Generous — 3.17.19 Sermon

This message closes a generosity series by returning to a foundation: God owns everything, including relationships, and we are stewards who will give an account. Psalm 24 and 1 Corinthians 4 frame the call to manage well what was entrusted. The core teaching is that God's work is supported by God's people, that giving is to be a lifestyle rather than an occasional activity, and that it should be done wisely, not haphazardly. The widow's two coins in Mark 12 anchors the principle: God desires equal commitment, not equal contribution. The application presses toward sacrifice. David's offering for the temple in 1 Chronicles 29 models leaders setting the example, and Luke 16 reframes generosity as an investment whose return is people. Generosity, the teaching insists, is not loss but the place blessing comes from.
