We are poor when we have nothing left to give

A dear friend and regular listener to the Daily Picture pointed out to me that "We are only poor when we have nothing left to give". Think on the truth of that! God loves to give to us so if we learn to receive from Him and to recognise all He gives to us, our perspective will assuredly not be one of poverty. From the blessings we receive we can further bless others in our giving. Luke 21 tells us of the poor widow who put her last 2 tiny coins into the temple coffers. She could so easily have reasoned herself into only giving one coin but she wanted to give abundantly. We have God as our absolute example of giving. He gave mankind His one and only Son. I don't think any of us fully understands the magnitude of that sacrifice even if we have a measure of understanding that Jesus's death on the cross has reinstated eternal life to those who choose to receive that amazingly generous and precious gift. Let us give out of what we have been gifted.
