The truly mystifying mindbender is why people think Brecher was so smart and his brainteasers are so ingenious. Ambiguous questions that are missing key components that would lead the reader to the solution they give.  Brecher, probably the world's greatest con artist, realized that the way to make people think you're smart is by asking questions devoid of critical information, then making people feel stupid when they don't come up with the answer you give. Even though, based on the information provided, their answer is perfectly cromulent people feel intellectually inferior when they come up with his answer.  Example: Dr. Greyhouse took the morning train to East Chestertonfieldshire for work, as he does every day. Saying hello to the regular travelers he sees each day. Thirty minutes into his commute, the train made its normal stop at North Westerlyhilldowns and Peter Brachman boarded the train; sitting several rows ahead of Dr. Greyhouse. Upon seeing Peter board, Dr. Greyhouse exited the train at the North Westerlyhilldowns stop, and took the next train heading back home. The doctor and Peter didn't know each other and have never. Neither man spoke to the other or communicated in any fashion. Why did the doctor go home without going to work?  Answer: The train arrived at North Westerlyhilldowns thirty minutes after leaving East Chestertonfieldshire, meaning that it didn't stop in Fellowsbrookbury. The train only stops at Fellowsbrookbury on the week days. Dr. Greyhouse realized it was the weekend and didn't have to go to work.  Listen to Acomi and Turk get frustrated with the book, its detail vacant questions, and the con man that wrote it, Erwin Becher. Not only should this so-called genius be stripped of his awards, but striped naked and flogged in public. He should be given a lash for every ridiculously hollow question he ever put on paper.
