We Don't Listen to Understand 🙉

“Listen with curiosity. Speak with honesty. Act with integrity. The greatest problem with communication is we don't listen to understand. We listen to reply. When we listen with curiosity, we don't listen with the intent to reply. We listen for what's behind the words.” Roy T. Bennett  This quote above speak truth to me and I had to share this with y'all. Most times we don't ever take a deep breath before speaking to those who caused pain in our hearts or made us feel some type of way. Instead, some of us have a hard time finding space to debrief and come clear with ourselves before engaging with others. You gotta' listen to others and you also must understand yourself too on your own time. I can only speak for my community, the black community, we have a hard time expressing ourselves let alone don't care about another person's feelings. Some of us don't even take the time to truly listen to what is being said but yet have a whole lot of shit to say on something that could be clear, if only you've taken the time to listen. Interruptions causes you to miss out on the importance behind the words that are being expressed. Tune into the REAL things most people miss and have a hard time expressing themselves when it comes to communicating.... Do you ever listen? Or are you quick to reply? Ask yourself these questions.
