There are many dangers in the world. We want to be aware of them. But we don’t want to center our attention on the problems. If we do we will become anxious, angry, bitter, and cynical. We aren’t any good to ourselves or anyone else when we operate from these. What we want to do instead is to center ourselves in gratitude. We want to count our blessings, look for the good, look for the potential, look for the opportunities. We want to recognize, acknowledge and celebrate our victories and look for signs of growth. Improvement, and progress even if they are incremental. We find what we look for. If we focus on the good, we will find it nearly every place we look. This will make us hopeful, optimistic, and energized. This will give us the passion and energy to put in the work we need to put in to accomplish the good we’d like to see.
